Speeding in a school zone

In Ohio, the courts take speeding in school zones very seriously. Designated school zones limit speed during certain times of the day and year to 20 miles per hour. If you are pulled over for driving greater than thirty (35) miles per hour over the speed limit in a school zone you could be assessed four (4) points and charged with a misdemanor of the fourth (4th) degree as opposed to a minor misdemeanor. Potential penalties for fourth degree misdemeanor in Ohio include the following: (1) a maximum jail sentence of 30 days and (2) a fine not to exceed $250.00.  Because there is a possibility of jail time for these infractions, it is important to retain an attorney and attempt to resolve these tickets as early as possible.
